Use mirror adhesive and not silicone
screwfix or your local glass merchants will stock this

I am going to be no help here.... My neighbour opposite just installed a large mirror into his bathroom and glued it up to the wall with mirror adhesive.
(Which you would think is the right thing to do)
But he showed me witness marks at the back of the mirror where the glue was applied. Its showing up as dark spots or streaks.
He's not happy (I dont blame him). But until I saw that - I was convinced the way to apply mirrors was to use mirrror adhesive and to apply to the dry backwall.
I used it on my own mirror. Its a huge mirror and the weight rests on a granite plinth. But I am pleased to report no witness marks!
After 5 years the mirror is still glued to the wall with just "mirror glue" adhesive. The weight is taken by a plinth.
But if you have a cheap mirror then be warned there is a danger that when fixed you will notice witness marks / patches / stains lying behind the glass.
PS: We are a diamond drilling company and the product is ideal for putting holes into glass. If you decide not to glue the mirror you might want to screw it.
If you screw it on then buy a mirror fixing kit with the proper rubber washers. And then we recommend the 10mm pack for this job.
10mm is often used to get the holes into glass / mirror. Use with a proper fixing kit.
Good luck !

hi normally use neutral cure silicone which does not mark the backing normal silicone will also leave room for exp all around 2mm![]()
Thank you for the replies so far - I do appreciate your interest and help. One thing that I did think of using was just the same adhesive I used for the tiles. Am I heading for trouble if I do this?
Words of Wisdom would be appreciated!

Deffo heading for trouble....just the same adhesive I used for the tiles.
Use a good quality mirror mate and not a cheap shed version and you will be fine....the acetate in cheap ones and silicone eat into the mirror backing and shows through....
Where ever you are getting the big mirror from should be able to supply you with some,,,![]()

I'm going to stick my neck out here and recommend
1) A GOOD QUALITY MIRROR
2) Mirror adhesive
I think that with poor quality mirrors its possible for the patches to show up.

Agree Richard, if anybody uses screws, just use them to take the weight, don't tighten them, seen loads of bathroom mirrors with the corner cracked. I use mirror adhesive as well as screws (if it comes with screw holes) just to take up the 'error' of flatness in the wall! (Probably a better phrase or word for that last bit!)
Thanks all - great advice. Fortunately we had purchased a good quality mirror (with polished edges - when we had contractors do it, they didn't specify polished edge and it spoils the appearance and also have used Mirror Adhesive. So far, it's staying put!!!
Your help is very much appreciated.
Hi all,
Gonna be doing our bathroom soon (yet to buy tiles) and as its a small bathroom we want one wall next to the shower/bath to be mirrored (to make room look bigger). Does anyone know where to buy decent mirror tiles from? Also what kind of adhesive I would use for them?
cheers

Get a full size mirror cut to the size of the space available. Dont go for mirror tiles.
Example of a space ready to accept a mirror
The finished look will be much more pleasant
