Question Can someone help with this setting out??

    Hi

Im after some opinions on the setting out Ive done in my bathroom. I had a sample tile so I drew the layout onto the wall (both to help with the setting out and the number of tiles required).

My main questions are have I set the tiles out around the window OK and the large wall behind the bath (ie: start from middle so as to have 2 small 'strips' at top and bottom to help it look more symmetrical)

Dont be confused by the squiggly lines they were mistakes the tile layout is not to follow these. We decided to have a border at the bottom, I think this would work best

At the ends its left with a small piece but I couldnt find any other way to solve it, any better ideas? I want to keep it as symmetrical as possible

    Hello and welcome.....

Seems to look ok the way you have it......

Is there a border going over the bath as well...?

Looks like a good effort to me. Looking at picture 4 (with the basin in) are you using a full tile into the left hand wall? Looks like that walls running out - probably just the picture angle but worth noting.

Also do you realise grout lines don't match up from the basin wall into the recess wall? Can see why you've done as you have if intentional! (might just be the picture againmaking angles look funny?)

No just a border above the shelf, i wasnt going to have one but there was a gap so i thought a border, instead of repositioning all the tiles or a small strip of them.

I see what you mean i didnt realise that its because i made it central to the window and the other part central to the basin, im not sure what to do with it now.

Also, are you tiling behind toilet? From picture 5 you may have a small cut to cill/shelf, depending on tile spacing.

Have you taken your grout gaps into consideration? Based on a 2mm gap that can add, or subtract depending on how you look at things, 20mm every 10 tiles.

And I also think it will look odd if the grout lines on the main wall do not line up with the recess wall.

Hi Veronic....sometimes you can't centre on every focal point..if one works well for cuts opt for that one but if neither work well, you have to try a different layout..if none work out well..you shoudl choose the one with the least bad points and recommend that one to your client (but give her/him the choice)...hope that makes sense!
