I do the odd bit of plastering and although I can get a good finish in terms of 'smoothness' actually making walls flat enough for tiling is a whole different story!! If the walls are good then fine but if they're running all over the place then I board it or get a pro plasterer in!!!

Good luck tho as you say it's a useful skill to have - I've saved myself a fortune by gradually plastering my own house... don't think I'll be making a living from it though!!!!

If it gives you the skill to prep your own walls for tiling then go for it..

I would still want to get a half decent finish even when tiling over the plaster but do a course and see how get on. Nett seems to have good short plastering course, good luck

Done a bit of plastering here and there............I can get it flat and tile-able........but defo not good enough to leave for painting.

I have toyed with the idea of doing a course.....but its finding one local, having the time & money

    Plastering is definitely worth doing.
How many jobs to you go to, rip the tiles off & half the wall comes with them?
Or people have a new kitchen/bathroom & want the job plastering for nice crisp walls prior to tiling.
I do all my own plastering and would recommend it to any one of you out there.
More money on your pocket in these difficult times
It's not too difficult to pick up. you just need a good eye for levels which you will have being pro tilers, and don't bite off more than you can chew whilst learning, by not doing too large an area to start.
Plus its easier to plaster a straight wall than to patch in smaller areas & reveals.

    Go for it
