Sealing Vitreous Tiles
Ive got buff Gress Vitreous non slip tiles in my bathroom which have been down for 2 years and cleaned regularly but have started to get grubby in areas of most use nothing would clean it up so i had to acid wash them which done the trick.I have never considered sealing this kind of tile if their is one, before its only as its in my house that it came to light and if it takes 2 years to notice the build up of grime a customer would hardly come back after that period of time so maybe it is common. So would you seal this type tile or not.
Also i live in a very hard water area which causes grey grout to whiten discounting water softners, magnets etc ime beginning to think that it woud be better to seal grouts on bathfoom floors, what do you think.

Re: Sealing Vitreous Tiles
Not so........... IMO
Sealing can cause an unsuitable surface for walking in an already risky environment.
With a shinyer tile the grout helps grip a rough tile does so by nature. When you seal a tile you can reduce / remove the absorbtion properties or suction between foot and floor surface causing you to hydroplane.
Hope this makes sense............
