    Default Seat Inside Shower

Hi, thinking of adding a tiled step /seat to the inside of the shower enclousure (also would hide the soil pipe from the toilet if the position of the toilet changes)

Will 18mm WBP ply clad round a stud frame be ok and should the Frame be 4x2 or wound that be overkill, also do I need to treat the WBP ply with anything

    cheers

All the walls are dot and dabbed plasterboard , might have to build a little stud wall at one end depending on what enclosure we get, shouldnt be a problem as the tiles are only going to be 250 or 300 by 200

As I said the budget is tight - nothing is purchased yet just looking into equipment and material costs, this was something I had not budgeted for till I started reading up on it .

Plasterboard the main area, ply the step your thinking of making sure its solid, then tank the whole area with Dura-wp. This will seal the whole area and you can tile directly...............

Hi janzbro and thanks for the comments about the 'job of the month photo'.
If its a normal domestic shower enclosure and the step/seat is not going to be too large you could as you've suggested build a timber framework of 2x2 and cover it with Wedi board or similar for under £20.
Rubber silicone seal/tape all the edges and corners and use a fast set flexible waterproof white adhesive (ie-webber) .
Not everything is as expensive as it looks!
    John.
