mosaic mural in shower
I want to create and install a ceramic mosaic mural in my bathroom. What would be the best way to tackle this project. Should I directly apply the tiles to the wall or layout the image first and install later. The mosaic image is a rather complicated one, so I'd be nervous about directly applying the tile to the wall. I'm a newbie when it comes to making mosaic murals...any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

i would say lay out your pattern first defintley before tiling it you ll have more time to visualise it first

Re: mosaic mural in shower
Thanks for all your suggestions. Some of the mosaic tiles might be thinner than the face tiles.

Thanks John. The image is "The Embrace" by Gustav Klimt. I might modify the design for the sake of simplicity. I'm hoping to use ceramic tile (some handpainted and some ready mades). I can see your point about choosing tiles of the same thickness, although I was hoping to use a variety of materials for this mosaic mural. Hope you can open this link. Cheers. Mica

Re: mosaic mural in shower
WOW! - Now that does look interesting.
In my humble opinion I would go for a vibrant selection of coloured mosaics cut into a smalti size and fix to sheets - that way it may only take about a month of work rather than ....!
Inside a shower you want as flat a wall as possible - but it may loose some of the depth and texture that you may be looking for.
When I say good luck I mean GOOD LUCK.
JOHN.
