what would you do?
Hi
I'm new here and was hoping to get some advice on my hallway.
Its around 6m and had original victorian tiles which were a mess so I have taken them up and the concrete that they were laid on. So now I'm left with joists with compacted hardcore between them(I have a cellar)
I intend to lay some Original Style tiles- a nice border but then just squares for the main pattern.
My question is this - what preparation do I need to do to achieve a stable and flat surface on which to lay the tiles?
thanks in advance

Re: what would you do?
A picture would help.... but without seeing it maybe 12mm plywood boarding and a 6mm tile backer board on top depends on any height restriction. or if the floor finish is preety much flush to the joists maybe a 9mm "NO MORE PLY" backer board straight to joists but would need to be voidless under the boards.
