Default Walls already pva'd - how to proceed?

    Hi
title explains most - but job to do (weeks to go) and customer has helpfully (?) pva'd the newly (3 weeks) plastered walls. Can I apply sbr or similar over it without attempting to remove? If I have to remove what are best ways? Sponge off, rub off or steam? It won't peel off I am told - must have been diluted.
It's a kitchen by the way

I had the same problem a couple of years ago, we just went over the whole area with sandpaper a couple of times, then gave it a coat of primer, dont know if this was the right thing to do, but i;v had no comebacks on it.

I was sort of hoping I could prime over it without a nasty reaction

The problem with PVA is that it's water soluable. So get a wet sponge and give it a good wash. Leave it to dry and then perhaps give it a quick sanding and then a coat of primer. That should do it.

Hi, the best way to remove it i found is to use sugarsoap and warm water, tried it a couple of times now and not had any bother. Dont forget to prime before you lay up tiles and it will be no problem

    Thanks all round for replies

Will give the sugarsoap method a go.
I am a great fan of sugarsoap when decorating etc.
I think if it had been a bit more of a safety problem I would have gone with the sandpaper, but as it is only a kitchen I will take the washing route. Mind you I say I will - I actually mean I will pass the info on and let them do it at least once - plus a back up by me.

PVA for tiling? Where do they get it from?

I seem to remember a 'how to do it ' leaflet from b and q that said to prime with pva - wonder if it still does - will check out
