getting nitromors off tiles
Laid black porcelain tiles but grey grout won't come off surface and groves. Grout manufacturer advised Nitromors to remove it and now we can't get rid of the oily residue from over use of Nitromors. Any suggestions? Been scrubbing and buffing for 4 days!

Re: getting nitromors off tiles
The grout used was Bal microflex, because of the anti-bacterial agents built within makes it damned difficult to remove. Mainly because it fights and protects against acid attack.. what next?

Re: getting nitromors off tiles
I take it they suggested using nitromors to separate the polymer & microban from the cement? It is also something that you need to do with ultracolor plus to separate the polymers. Otherwise any acid cleaners fail to work effectively.
Nitromors turns opaque when in contact with water, if what you have left is not opaque, smeary phlegm looking stuff then I'd doubt it was remaining nitromors, more loosened grout polymers or slurry residue from the factory wax used on porcelain that have been partially disolved by the nitromors.
Pretty much any alkaline cleaner should tackle the wax, you could try calling someone like LTP who might be able to point you in the right direction.

Re: getting nitromors off tiles
An old thread I know but I've just come off the phone to Mapei technical who also advised Nitromores. The problem is haze on the grout itself, and techy man said that prior to using Mapei Keranet acidic cleaner, I should use Nitromores to break down the polymers which would prevent the Keranet absorbing.
I was a bit worried so looked on here and hey presto Bal are advising the same thing.

Re: getting nitromors off tiles
Despite what others may laugh at, I've used Nitromorse on a number of revitalise jobs with outstanding results.
If you follow the instructions, do small areas at one time and do not leave it to dry on the surface, it is one of the most effective cleaners I've come across.
Having said that - I'd only consider using this product having tested it first on a sample area of tile.
There are many proprietry 'cleaners' on the market that do not do what it says on the tin - this does.

Re: getting nitromors off tiles
just read the whole thread through
if you are going to use paint stripper trial test a small area out off sight first to ensure the stripper wont damage the tile. the new generation of strippers are non caustic and shouldnt etch but depending on the tile it may affect the colour
I know nothing I havent learnt

Re: getting nitromors off tiles
I'm going to give it a go - but first on an offcut and will observe verty closely. A scary prospect using paint stripper but that's what Mr Mapei says.
