Help!: Painting Floors

Does anyone know whether you can paint over slate flooring? I want to get a light stone effect. Cheers.

To answer your question........Yes you can paint it.............BUT

A....It will look crap.
b....It will NOT last.

Is it just old and need a professional cleaner going over it? Cleaner as in a product not a person by the way.

Paint over slate NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo would be criminal like the guys have already said go see a good local tile retailer for a decent cleaning product and poss re grout.
