    Default porch poser

    Hello folks,

I have a customer who wants a porch floor tiled, the porch is constructed from upvc , the floor has been concreted to reasonable level. The problem is the bottom edge of the door is only 4 mm above said concrete floor.I need an extra 15 mm from somewhere. I have pondered on taking the floor level down or lifting the door, but before i contemplate this , has anyone else had an experience on how to overcome this problem?

    the question is

can you lift the door on a upvc porch, isnt there a ringbeam around the top of all the frames

is the floor concrete or is it concrete sub floor with a screed

one option which may look a bit odd , depending on how its done is a matwell as you go in then the tiles at a higher level

youwill have to make a feature of this so it doesnt look like a compromise
I know nothing I havent learnt

We had simular with a kitchen door - Had the frame took out, cut at the top and refitted - not too sure on the exactness of exactly what was done but ended up with a door higher off the floor (it was so low even a thin matt could get caught underneath it)

    Thanks guys,
Have decided to lift the door which does have 15 mm clearance at the top. Its on barrel hinges which can be altered and the shot bolt strap can also be adjusted and an additional sealing strip on the bottom of the door to compensate for the lift .The simple solution , that I couldn`t see for all of two days lol ? consult the manufacturer.
