Laser level and a staff![]()

right looks like thats the next investment then, thanks

Or a long level with a few spacers stuck to each end, the point that is closest to the bottom edge of the level when you lay it down is the highest. Depending on how high the high point is depends on how many spacers youll have to stick to it. I just cellotape them on as and when.
See wht ure saying Oli but on a large floor which is 10m wide how do u know that one side isn't higher than the other...as re level is only 1.5m long?

Granted its more of a technique for checking the flatness of a floor to decide if it is withing acceptable tolerance or if it needs SLC'ing.
Which level are you thinking of getting?
I don't know m8...think i will need a seperate one for walls and floors...i've seen some on tradetiler...why can u recommend 1?
whats accectable tolerance 2-3mm?

laser level but why do you want to start from the highest point![]()
Another way to check levels around a room, is to run a datum line around the room, say 6 inches up from the floor using a long level. Then measure down from datum line to check high/low spots.
I have a 1.9mtr Stanley Fatmax Level, and use Oli's method to measure acroos the centre of the room.
Another option is to use a water level, these are great for measuring through multi rooms.

Decent sized length of timber.............just make sure you get a straight bit.
So thats Wicke, BnPoo, homebase, etc etc knackered then![]()

For a straight edge I use a 3m length of aluminium "I" beam used in demountable office partitions.
It's very cheap to buy one (or "borrow" it from a site) and they're very sturdy. Can easily be cut down to required length aswell.
Just put a level on top of it, spacers underneath ( 4" square ply offcuts) and sling it across the room to measure dips/high points.

Try SLC with a roller.
ok so u find the high points and mark on the floor height? so what are the tolerances mounds above 3mm? 4mm? need be ground down or self leveller used?
If you have any humps bumps or dips in the floor save yourself the heartache and skim with slc its a better job in the long run.easier than trying to bed up with addy and risking hollow tiles.![]()
