Unlevel Porcilain Tiles
Hi all. I've just had an installation of underfloor heating on a wooden floor with black 'slate effect' porcilain tiles on top. Installation was backer boards first follow by heating elements, then floor leveling compound, then tiles.
All went well up until the tiling. The 'underfloor heating and tiling specialist' has left me with a dodgy tiling job. Many tiles are unlevel.
I need some advice on how to deal with the result. I don't think the tiles can be pulled up without ruining the heating. Is there anyway of sanding/polishing the surface to a level?
Anyone out there that can help?
Thanks.

Re: Unlevel Porcilain Tiles
I have ... but that is still unresolved and very early stages. Now the tiles are down I do not trust him to resolve the issue after seeing the standard of his work. So will be going for compensation.

Re: Unlevel Porcilain Tiles
after a latex floor. harder to get it wrong! Level; smooth and flat a tilers dream. Challenge this so called tiler demand yer money back or have him have a chance to rectify the job to your satisfaction. if he does not agree to either take him to small claims with photo evidence.
To answer your question no dont sand down porcelain tiles there basicaly a ceramic tile just kilned hotter to make them harder. If it's a real bad job and you really unhappy take yer pic's file a court hearing get a new referenced tiler to pull up and replace with new (chances are none will be salvagable) , put his bill to the pref tiler in court

Re: Unlevel Porcilain Tiles
I found the tiler on the internet. He was local, is a 'specialist' with underfloor heating and tiling (which is quite difficult to find). Also, his website looked very professional with good recommendations/testomonials/photos of work completed. The floor was laid over the past 4 days. He did the whole job.

Re: Unlevel Porcilain Tiles
You done your homework to find the right tiler, Your are now not happy with the finished work. My first port of call would be to the guy who done the tiling and see what responce you get, I believe that now he can be given the option to put it right and take it from there.
