Looking for work

Hi All,

I am a part time tiler who has carried out quite a few jobs by myself and worked a few days here and there for a tiling company.
I am looking to get into the trade full time, i would be willing to work for free to start with to gain some more experience.
I could send you over some pictures of my work.
I am i the Berkshire/Hampshire/Surrey border area.

I have also thought about trying to setup by myself, does anybody think that would be a good idea in the current climate? and how difficult would it be? any tips??

to the forum!

i would maybe hold of trying to get in to tiling full time at the moment,as a lot of friends of mine with trades are all struggling at the moment,it will take a while to build up a reputation and financially this migh sicken you out of it at the moment as you may be spending a lot of the time not tiling.a better idea would be to maybe do it as a side job allowing you to pick up experience but not rely on it for a regular income!

i'm thinking of setting up my own business too but as purleyite am not sure in the current climate! are there people out there spending money?!?!

Spoke to a bricklayer of high quality and he told me he had done 5 days work in as many months

There is work out there, it's just a lot harder to get it.

You'll do good!
If your prepared to work for the experience that shows a desire and if you manage to get a position with an experienced tiler he wouldn't let you to work for nothing - even if it was a minimal amount.
I agree with Davd Campbell and would hold back until the confidence is there first.
Don't tile until you can grout, don't grout until you can sweep up.... just be helpful and not a hindrance. Youv'e got the willing, learn the able.
If you have money coming in from another source this part time tiling can be good fun. But when its your only income - make sure its for you.
I've been doing it for 35 years - through 4 lull periods ( not using the R word) and its great!
