A big no no for lath and plaster, the trouble is it can give way at a whim. Over board at least with 12.5mm, that should give you some peace of mind

Many thanks guys as I thought always good to get other opinions. THIS IS A GREAT SITE well done
PS Does this also apply for plasterboard that has just been painted over and not skimmed

Check the paint to see how well it is attached, put some sticky tape on the paint and leave for a while then pull off that will indicate how well fixed it is

Agree lath and plaster is a no.no. Remember travertine is porous so tanking in shower is essential.
