Default Should I be as angry as i am getting about this?

I'm not a tiler, so I don't know the ins and outs, but i've got a grasp of the basics... i've figured enough to tile my mothers bathroom for her (I've been redoing it for her as a treat, she doesn't have so much money so it's just something I thought i'd do for her)...

Anyway, i've tiled most of it, fitted the new suite, etc... her boyfriend said he'd contribute and do the grouting while I was at work... fair enough one less job for me.

I've come home today to find one wall grouted. The wall. Grouted. Sure he's grouted all the joints... and all the tiles more or less, and not pointed it at all. It's all dried, big clumps in the joints and such, all over the place, nothing smooth about it.

I ask why the hell he's not pointed it, and he tells me he got that far and then couldn't find a trowel, so he's going to remove it all and do it again. Why he couldn't just point it with his finger I don't know.

Remove this dried grout from every joint in the wall, without damaging the tiles? I'm highly skeptical.... can come somebody please confirm my suspicions that he has completely screwed this up so I can go and tell him the bad news, or is this something he is actually going to be able to do? He seems to think it will just scrape out, but then, he seems to know absolutely everything and there's nothing he's not an expert at

Hi mozzer...firstly no swearing allowed .....

And joints should be grouted with a grout float then finished with a sponge....i never point them...

The grout needs removing asap before it sets to hard...

Unless you like the rustic look...OK VERY! rustic look remove it asap, like now! if you leave it to morning it will have started to cure

Depending on how many hours have passed since he grouted it you may be able to run a filler knife along the joints and then use a wet sponge to start washing off the excess

you'll find this alot easier to do now than in the morning

As has been said, a cheap green or yellow pan cleaning sponge works well.

Be patient here, don't expect to get it all off in one go, but go at it bit by bit. Also, I have found those cheap plastic grouting tools you get in some tubbed adhesive buckets very good. They wear in preference to marking the tiles.

When you do this job, you have to be organised. Know where your tools are before you start. It's not like fitting shelves where you can mark out for the brackets then go on a hunt for your drill. With tiling you need to know you can go from A to B without having to go and get/find something else.
