    Default Substrate query?

I've took up some laminate flooring ready to tile with slate
Upon taking them up there are 9" vinyl tiles laid with bitumen directly onto the floorboards. These are all still solidly fixed.

Can i just overboard the vinyl tiles with 12mm ply?

The floor seems solid but i'd rather overboard too if possible

    Cheers folks

I would use a Backerboard rather than ply mate.

I've already got the ply - can this be used?
Floorboards are solid and with these tiles stuck solid it reinforces the floor even more!

Yea you can use ply mate just a little more involved than backerboard.

Just make sure you screw it down really well, and prime it properly.
