Re: computer programe for tile cover calculation
Tape measure and calculator for me.
For number of tiles needed per m2
Tile height in meters x Tile width in meters = X
1 / X = Tiles per m2.
eg a 300mm x 200mm tile
0.3 x 0.2 = 0.06
1 / 0.06 = 16.66 tiles per m2.

Re: computer programe for tile cover calculation
it's not just working out the area to be tiled, it's the area of tiles to do the tiling that you need to take into account. Recently did a bathroom where each wall was 4.1m in length, the tiles were a metre long, to avoid slither cuts in the corners I had to put cuts of 540mm, therefore the off cut of 460mm was scrap, two of those per course, so I was losing nearly a linear metre of tile every course. So when calculating areas, have a mind of the tiles you'll be using

Re: computer programe for tile cover calculation
Here are one or two tips.
If someone gives you a figure of say 149 square feet, you multiply that by 0. 0929, giving you 13.84 sq mt. Then add on the usual 10% for wastage.
If someone says 96 inches by 47 inches, which is 4512 sq inches , you multiply that figure by 0.000645 which gives you 2.91 sq mt. + wastage
Finally if someone says 8 sq yards , you multiply it by 0.8361 which equals 6.69 sq mt. + wastage
Hope this helps
