Default tile on top of tiles. About to start-HELP

HI I am about to lift the tiles that r already down so that I can lay my new tiles.

My concern is the kitchen worktops were fitted after the floor got tiled.

SO is it ok to remove the tiles on the floor and then chisel round at the bottom where the work top support rests on the tiles ? thats my plan .

That way the support that holds up the kitchen work tops will still be supported by the old tiles- Then I will lay the new ones up to it and u wont see the old ones.

Hope u understand what I am trying to explain.

second opinion would be great I thought.

The old tiles under the units won't be seen anyway once the plinths are refitted...

    Right!!!...

This depends on how you go about removing the old tiles....In theory if you do not remove the tiles from under the base end panels then it will be fine and they will just act like packers...So the units will not drop..

Just take care when breaking up the old tiles....hammer and bolster to try and get a clean break so the new tiles will fit in neatly...

Any panels that are exposed ..as in at the end of a unit run then you can use a grinder to get a clean cut ....

But you are doing the right thing by removing the old ones...

SO sorry Dave I thought they were on base panels .I just got back from B&Q.AN have noticed after pulling out the plinthg that they are actually on legs .

I assume that it will be the same approach here then as with the base panels? Altough it will be harder to remove the tile under the plinth.

Ok..no probs....take the plinths off and remove tiles upto the legs....

The base end panels...you can remove the tiles completly...this make retiling easier and neater....if the new tile will not slide under just cut aroung and silicone to seal the joint..

Once tiled and plinths put back on...you will never see the tiles under the cupboards...

Thats me removed the tiles, Hard graft!

There is still some of the old ady bonded to the floor.I have removed most of it.

The concerte floor is uneven I was thinking of laying a self leveling compound to give me a better level surface to tile on is this correct?

    Many thanks
