Mosaic advice
Hi all, Hows things? I don't have so much of a problem as such, I'm just looking for any advice on laying mosaic tiles, I've been tiling a year now along side my regular job and haven't yet encountered a mosaic job until yesterday, it's only a little one, the two walls on top of the bath but it's in 300x300mm mosaic tiles on mesh the name of the tile is something like Waxman Honeycomb mosaic or something, i was just wondering what the best thing to do with them is regarding fixing them. The customer has all the gear bought from the tile shop, regular pre mix acrylic addy!! i have a mosaic trowel and was told by a tiler to put the addy on combed in a horizontal and pad the tiles on with my grout float! does this sound about right??

Re: Mosaic advice
if the acrylic is supergrip then no worries, couldnt say otherwise.....,should bond perfectly okay (although you will wait longer for it to cure) 4mm notch and epoxy grout float if you have one for extra weight, standard float should be fine. slap them up and keep your eye on the lines, stretch the sheets with your float to even out the joints. jobsagoodun.

Re: Mosaic advice
sounds like a topps-tiles-bought mosaic sheet, so he's probably got a pot of "bal grip". no problem there,

Re: Mosaic advice
better of using mosaic fix than the bal grip,24 hrs is a long time to dry out and move!

Re: Mosaic advice
I always combe my addy on the horizontal, whatever tile. I pprefer Bal mosaic stuff when it comes to them.

Re: Mosaic advice
I use a paint roller sometimes for larger areas, never had any probs(strange i know but a trick i was taught by an old timer). For smaller areas grout float but your arm feels like it will drop off after a bit

they're a ceramic in a honeycomb shape! it's not topps tiles, we don't have one through here, it's just a independent tile shop with their own brand adhesive i'll have to tell him to get some mosaic addy will i?
