Are you trying to get in with the Big Boy contractors i.e Barratts, etc. or smaller contractors/developers?
If big boys ask to be on their list of approved contractors for tendering purposes. You will have a lot of health & safety, insurances, etc,etc, to prove to them you are a bonafide firm.
If a smaller contractor/developer, that's more word of mouth through other trades they use. Could be that you meet them over a pint or something similar.
In either case always be professional in your attitude and manner towards them.
You will also need to be CIS registered with Inland Revenue for both situations.
Speak to friends and family to see if they know of anyone to recommend your services to.
Good luck, it's tough out there with contractors unlikely to use someone they don't know and trust with their clients.
