No, we tend not to use them here. These sites that promise you work for fees are the scurge of the industry!
They prey on peoples' worries. Some here have parted with a lot of money to get onto these sites and have ended up with nothing in return.
Fact of life is that there is a recession. There is less work than a while ago, and some of us have spare time on our hands.
In my case I'm using this to further our own projects, others will diversify - tiling and odd jobs etc, one guy is a window cleaner as his first occupation, so he has this to fall back onto, and then there is the option of posting flyers in DIY store car parks or around the street.
There is one site that is free to register with. It's owned by Dan who also owns this site, the link is on this site somewhere. Findtrustedtradesmen I think.
No doubt we will get some more numpties who google, find this thread, register and post about how brilliant one site is. Chances are they are employed by the site in question or have a vested interest in them. We had such an incident yesterday. Dan was right on the case and removed his account. He had just registered, only had 1 post to his name and was already bigging up a site.
AVOID THEM AT ALL COST is my opinion.

I agree with all of the above, and i wouldn't ever pay a subscription to get these so called 'guaranteed' jobs, however, there is some free to register sites that are ok, i've been succesful in getting 4 jobs since December on another trades website. So every now and then a nice little job for the sake of sending a few emails. Doing an 11 sqm floor next week from it.
TBH we really could do with a sticky on here laying out some good advice and warning that some posters register with the sole intent of spamming this site with rubbish about certain sites.
1) Hopefully fewer members and other honest folk who want to make a living will get scammed
2) The incidents of idiots who think that conning people out of their hard earned cash is acceptable coming on here should decrease.
nah there not all conmen these sites ,trust a trader are even on talk sport but there 2 dear they want £500 2 join people wouldnt pay to join these kind of sites if there was no work on them. i'l b joining one of these kind of sites, i was talking to a courier the other week hes a member of courierexchange a site for couriers n wat have u, they make fortunes off there, so a constructive answer wud be more helpful than dont join any of them there all out to rob ya,
yeah theres a recession n dans is fine but theres no work on it
if anyone can tel me a good one let me know
cheers
Hmmm......
They would only ever work if you searched the net for "tiler in xxxxx" (xxxx being your area) and you found the site, and listing. You're best spending the cash on getting yourself a website built. And it's not that expensive if you can do a bit yourself.
