As a new member I've been suprised at how much 'chit chat' is posted in the tiling forum. Would it not be more informative for members and the public who visit this site to read comments regarding tiling issues, and keep the other personal complaints to the chat room after 8o'clock.

Thanks for your comments, Forum is meant to be enjoyable as well as informative !
At the end of the day we can all choose which threads we wish to look at.
We all post when we are able, not necessarily after 8 pm.
Content of posts was not my point, it was people who look at but do not contribute to threads !
It is a Community as well as a Forum, the more times you post, the more you may feel inclined to have chit chat with other members who post regularily as well

I agree Nick. I have tried to post more in recent weeks, but dont bother when 4 or 5 others have already posted info that I would have put. I also agree that this has got to be fun as well as informative...and it is. That is why this is the best forum I have seen

Members input out of thier own free will...

We do not intend to force anybody to post..

A lot of members get more from just reading posts....as long as the forums help, thats all that matters.

If a member has an opinion on somebody's advice, then i'm sure they will pipe up...

The best way to get new members posting is to be friendly and helpful when they need it...

I take your point leatherface, but because this site is soooo good most of the questions have nearly already been answered, if they check back through the posts, and sometimes the dont have to ask....So i agree more chit chat.

From a sponsors point of view the level of interest is healthy so we continue to pay which keeps the site a free resource.

As long as people get something out of it (information as well as entertainment) then the status-quo (to me) seems about right.

With the credit crunch biting deep into the advertising budget it was a simple choice:
    A) Give the luxury company car to the repo man
    B) Give up sponsorship of the community

And so the luxury company car with all its mod cons had to go....

*legal note... No actual cars were towed away. There is no repo man.

we'll quite often have a light hearted banter through a thread timeless, it shows we're human and voluntarily giving advice, however most "chit chat" occurs when we've normally exhausted the thread
