, I'm fitting a shower enclosure in my bathroom, the room is bare plasterboard, and apart from a few behind the sink I'm only tiling the shower, what I want to know is; do I fit the tray and enclosure and then tile the inside or do I fit the tray then tile and finely fit the enclosure over the top? or is there another way?
Tim
Easy
Fit tray first.
Silicone tray joint
Prime walls
Waterproof/tank walls
Tile onto top of tray
Grout
Silicone tray again
Fit enclosure

Re: In or out?
Hi tim....Tanking is advised.....you might not use the shower a lot then it could change...so for peace of mind tank it out....cheap as chips to tank with a membrane....
Membranes are the tanking of the future....

Re: In or out?
Oops just thought of another one, should I start tiling in the corner and work out or the other way around??

Re: In or out?
depends on how you require the finished end to look like. meaning the edge were the cubicle will be fixed to.but never tile from the corner outwards as you have to allow for the fact that the corner walls may not be true and your cuts may have to be adjusted into thecorners to keep the grouting lines equal as with the tiling. (bottom cut slightly longer or shorter than top) best way is to measure the dimensions of the cubicle screen to be fitted. using a baton mark your tiles with the spacer width along the baton and place to fit. if you are lucky you may end with a full tile or you may have to fit shower screen slightly inside a tile (advisable) sealant on inside and outside of screen. hope this makes sense if not pls say so.

Re: In or out?
follow the screen fitting instructions as most screens do not require silicone on the inside only on the outer perimeter once fitted, but if the instructions state the inside then follow them as per.

That is EXACTLY what I do.
Although you will also need to silicone the enclosure rails that are screwed against the walls. Your installation manual should detail this.
