Tiling and cooker hood dilemma!

I've tiled up to the cooker hood and now I'm in a dilemma as to whether or not to take the cooker hood off! You can see pictures of the tiles and the cooker hood here . Here are my concerns against both taking off the hood and tiling around it:

Taking Hood Off
- The tiles are slightly bevelled around the edges so when the hood goes back on there are going to be slight gaps in certain places.

- I'm unsure as to how difficult it is to take off the cooker hood and in turn putting it back on.

Tiling Around The Hood
- You can see from the pictures that there is only a small space between the bottom of the hood and top of the tiles. This means there's only going to be less than a 1cm tile cut that needs to go in here, taking into consideration the grout lines. If not done perfect this could look really bad!

- It will be harder to cut the tiles diagonally.

- If we ever need to replace the hood it will be more difficult than if the hood was tiled underneath.

What should I do? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hiya bud, my preference would be to remove the hood for a really neat finish. I dont always do this just depends on the type fitted. Some of the fancy glass ones leave you no option. Remove the filter covers from underside of hood and you can gain access to the fixings, usually 4 or 5 screws. Remove the hood and tile the rest. Its also handy to make the holes in the tiles where the wallplugs are then there is no guessing when putting it back on. Remember to isolate any power supply and you will probably have to alter the top of unit to allow thickness of tile and adhesive to let the upper part of hood fit back through the hole. Hope this helps.

if it was me ryanmcc i take the hood off . looks like on the pics its fixed at the top
as for the slight gaps try to fill use grout or silicone

I would remove and drop hood down after tiling Ryan,but I have the advantage of being time served Joiner with kitchen firm .If it's too much work ask the customer his opinion,he may employ a fitter to do it for you.
