Cutting mosaics
I'm going to tile my Dad's kitchen splashback. The tiles he has are mosaic type tiles 60x30 in a brickbond pattern on a mesh backing sheet.
I measured the gap from the worktop to the units above. I would be left with a cut of about half a tile (15mm) at the top. Should I cut the tile or would I be able to make the grout lines slightly bigger and leave a full tile at the top?
The worktop ends mid wall so the tiles will too. What do you think would look better to finish the edge. Grout or edge trim and should I aim to have 1/4 and 3/4 cuts at the edges or half and full tile?
There is also the bottom part of a window reveal to go into so I think I would need to use trim here as well.
There are a few sockets to cut round too, does anyone have any advice on doing this using this type of tile?
Thanks
Paul

Re: Cutting mosaics
bigger grout lines dont work i work with mosaics often and im afraid to say i would cut the tiles.I dont usually use trim i grout the edges then when finished i run a bead of silicone(the same colour)around the edge for a neat finish. As for the window i put the wall tiles up against the window tile so the edge of the window tile is showing around the window then grout this looks nice and no plastic trims(i hope this makes sense)

Re: Cutting mosaics
if you can finish with a full tile then fine and use a tile trim.I would use a suitable mosaic adhesive such as Bal mosaic fix.Around the sockets cut the tiles out the mesh with scissors and then patch them around sockets ,using spacers.

Re: Cutting mosaics
could you start of with a suitable beading? that would roughly make up the 15mm!
