Thanks for the nice comments guys! Good to know it looks ok to a experienced professionals eye!

I took my time with laying out etc and allowed myself plenty of time to do the job. I think this would be a good tip to anyone starting out (like myself) take the pressure off by allowing extra time.

No there were no doors from the hall into the kitchen or kitchen into the dining room. Didn't have to take any radiators off either, no major problems really. We'll except 4 of my fingers were bleeding when I had done! Grout is vicious stuff isn't it? Wore all my skin away!

Although I did pull up a bit I had done as it all started to go a bit..... skewif! Amazing how it can do that so quickly and not be able to get it back! Other than that I dropped a box of tiles and broke one that was down. Not sure how as there was adhesive underneath where it broke. Cheap B&Q tile though to be fair!

I am having bigger problems with the job I am on now. I have had to take a radiator off (which is going to happen plenty I'm sure!) and I am having to reboard quite a bit of the wall and another load has to be replastered!

It's a great learning curve! Quite enjoying it!

I'm a bit worried about taking radiators off myself, don't you have to mess about bleeding them / topping up the system? etc ?

Not usually! You can turn the radiators supply off then remove it in most cases, You will have to drain the radiator you take off but thats simple enough. With a combi boiler you have to repressure the system though.

Thumbs up Re: First paying Job pics!

Looks pretty good the Gazman...
I'm one of those newbies that jonesy was on about not so long ago and just did my first job at the weekend.
OK it was a straight forward oblong shaped floor of 14sq mtrs but it took 2 of us 3 hours to lay, back the next day and 40 minutes to grout.
The house owner took us into the bathroom to show us a previous tile job on the bathroom because he couldn't believe how much better ours was. No thin cuts, good spaces and done in half the time. Just goes to show that attitude to your work counts for something when it comes to the finished article.
Best of luck mate
Andy

Yeah I thought it was odd having a new floor with them units. She told me they were being changed but wanted the floor done first, I didn't argue!

This job was a month ago today and can't remember if i had too many problems, don't think i did. I did mention a couple of things in the thread i think.
