Underlay for conrete floor?
Hi guys,
I have just got the keys to our new house and need to start thinking about tiling for our kitchen floor.
The kitchen has a concrete floor, smooth and level. What I would like advice on is should I use any sort of underlay? I think the surface is fine to tile directly onto but I am thinking more from the point of view for insulation. I have looked at underfloor heating but don't think our budget can stretch to that.
Any advice at all is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Paul.

Re: Underlay for conrete floor?
Hello paul...
Adding UFH could be alot cheaper than you think....
Contact U-heat with your room dimensions and they can work it all out for you...

If you phone Aaron@Uheat he will sort it all for you and then we can talk you through your installation....

Re: Underlay for conrete floor?
Thanks Dave, I will have a look into that.
If we still do not go with UFH does anyone have any other recommendations as to what we should do for underlay / insulation on a concrete base before tiling?
Thanks,
Paul.

Re: Underlay for conrete floor?
Insualtion boards alone will give maybe a couple degrees insulation to a floor....it is designed really to stop heat loss into the substrate when using UFH tus making the running costs of the ufh cheaper...
Apart from that , just tell us what tiles you are going to use etc and then we can go from there..

Re: Underlay for conrete floor?
Hi Paul,
As Dave said above please give me a call or give me some idea of room sizes and i will work out sizes and prices for you.
Insulation will obviously help your room whether ufh is used or not but will be a lot more beneficial if you do use ufh. It will save you a great deal in running cost.
Have a look at www.uheat.co.uk as we have a promotion on at the moment with FREE 6mm insulation boards so will help towards the cost of you getting the ufh.
Hope this helps
