sounds to me like stores such as homebase and bq have squeezed them so hard on price that its eventually killed them.
how can a company go bust when they sell i suggest at least 10 times more cutters than all other companies.
there problem is they go into bq etc and they screw them down, they then cant sell elsewhere for much more money.
they have worked hard on getting there cutters upto the domestic standard for tilers.
there other tool are mainly rubbish though.
    shame.........

Plasplugs are a competitor. (They sell a limited size range of core drills) thankfully for me they were very expensive at £15 each and when tested proved not as robust as the Porsadrill range.

At £14.99 for one drill bit, Plasplugs were expensive when compared to the 4x drills at £29.99 from 365Drills Porsadrill range.

On a like for like basis the cores we sell at £29.99 would cost £60 from plasplugs.

However its always sad to see a company go bust (if thats indeed the case) but I am sure as with Woolworths case that other suppliers will take up the slack. For example sales of toys and CD's increased with Woolworth's competitors once they went under.

I'm not wanting to be a vulture (for a start 365 Drills is FAR TOO SMALL) and in no way in the same league as global PlasPlugs. What I can say to you iswe will continue to offer robust diamond drills as a competitive price. Lets hope somebody fills the void for cheap wet saws which will be missed.

The cheaper end of the wetsaw market will be missed PlasPlugs do go under.

There was nothing whatsoever wrong with their product range IMO. Hopefully someone will buy out the rights to manufacture their saws.

As far as new blades are concerned, there are several manufacturers out there. I very much suspect they bought their blades in, so hopefully their suppliers will not suffer too much and be able to sell directly to the sheds and other outlets.

I've just given away my tiny Plasplugs cutter, but I do have my Master Tile bought recently, and am very pleased with it. I've just got a glass blade for it as well.

It sounds like their finances weren't that well managed, if they owed £5m on an £18m turnover. That's a lot of debt to be servicing on that kind of turnover for a manufaturer in this recession. I've got to feel for the staff who have been kept in the dark. At least my old employer were good at keeping the staff informed as to what was going on when they had redundancies.

Aldi are doing a twin pack of 180mm 20mm bore blades ( fit Mastertiler ) for 7.99. Got a couple as standbys but I believe RUBI and others blades will fit though more expensive.
