Keraquick & Latex plus - mixing etc
Some questions regarding Keraquick & Latex plus....
1. Mixing.
Do I need to mix the powder and liquid by hand or using something like a plaster mixer in a drill?
2. Working over previous days adhesive 'spill'
Lets say I tile so far then stop until the next day. Even if I scrape up any unused adhesive there is bound to be a very thin skim left around the area where I was working. Will this cause problems when fixing tiles onto this area the next day?

Re: Keraquick & Latex plus - mixing etc
Better to mix with a drill and mixer of some sort. No next day will not be a problem unless you leave big lumps of stuff everywhere!!

Why not work clean by having a plastic sheet to mix on ??

Don't think he meant that Neale, I think he meant residue overspill after laying tiles, like grout lines not fininshed yet.

Thanks for the input gents. Your correct, I did mean overspill from troweling adhesive around the floor and not from being a monkey and mixing the adhesive on the floor! However, I am sure this goes on.
I will get on of those mixer jobbies then.
Thanks again

I use a small mixer in a 550w mains powered bosch drill when I mix mine. If you mix the whole bag at once you will need to work quick........

Just a tip, have another large bucket or gorilla tub filled with water and a stiff brush at the ready to clean off your whisk properly after each mix. Know we sometimes forget, but the Keraquick / Latex combination is really hard to knock off after it has set.

another one is, believe it or not, get an even bigger gorilla bucket and place your mixing bucket in it, any overspill/slops goes into the big bucket and you dont inadvertently stand in it and trail it all over customers house!

Re: Keraquick & Latex plus - mixing etc
Use a tarpaulin outside and mix from there, saves any dust floating around the house and breathing any in

I use a plastic dustbin, and the bucket I use fit's exactly in the recess in the middle, controls most splashes.

Re: Keraquick & Latex plus - mixing etc
Used it for first time last week. Mixed with a drill/paddle, outside, on a dust sheet.
That said, I still like that tip about the dustbin. Stops any slop flying out that could clear the dustsheet perimiter.
Because it's rapidset, I try to mix it as fast as possible to get a few more minutes to work with it. It's that expensive you don't want to miss the working time, and waste what's leftover in your bucket!!

that's actually counter productive, you entrain air into the mix and it actually sets faster

Your making me think it's time to invest in a proper paddle mixer, rather than something you just stick in a drill. Mine really struggle's when it comes to mixing a full bag in one go. Any suggestions on whats good, and what to steer clear of?
Anyway, gotta go...quote to do and walls to paint. Back later
