cutting round bent pipes

Hi there. Whats the best way to cut round bent pipes when they fall in the middle of a tile in order to leave a neat finish? porcelain 300 x 300 thanks

Guess best way would be to split a tile down middle of pipe line, notch out carefully & fix. Guess the tiles will be mostly hidden by sink or toilet ?

The last time I had this problem I used a set of 365 Drills.

If you don't get the hole spot on, don't worry too much, you can get collars from Screwfix or B&Q etc that will cover the gap nicely.

To take care of a couple of radiator pipes coming through the floor I drilled 30mm holes (15mm pipes) then used the collars to go over the pipes. The tiles were then placed over the pipes and down onto the floor. The larger dimension coped with the compression stop ends.

Those were 600x300 porcelain

Uncouple the trap so you just have the elbow...cut the hole and feed the tile over the elbow and down the pipe..

Cut a slot out of the tile towards the wall and then in-fill with a piece to suit the slot...It won't show much under the waste pipe of the toilet..

What about the pipe in the middle, 1st picture ? Can't uncouple that one, unless you cut below floor level first !
Guess a lot of it will depend upon room and if you can set out to accomodate !

yea tiles would mostly be hidden thinking along the same lines as you guys but just wanted to know what u lot did! I usually use diamond core drills...but haven't come across the bent pipes yet...as for removing the plastic trap this had crossed my mind but if you saw the state of the pipework under those floorboards you wouldn't dare touch it!! that plastic has all just been replaced as far as i know plumber sealed also but will try and loosen elbow without causing to much damage!

You uncouple the trap away , and that leaves the elbow....cut a hole about 5mm bigger than the pipe and the tile will slot over the top and down....i have cut a few like that,,,

The elbows will be solvent glued , so just remove the trap bend and slip the tile over..

hi leather guess i'll just have to do the same if worst come to worst cut a slither out then put back in after...will be hidden by bday...what else can u do?

you could cut the plastic pipe on the waste and do your hole cut then put a straight connector on and rejoin.

You won't be able to loosen off the elbow on the 32mm waste - it's solvent weld.

Either, remove the trap and try to feed the tile around the elbow,

Or, cut the pipe half way from the floor and rejoin after you've tiled using a solvent weld connector.

The other one, Dave's suggestion may work.

Yep its the copper one in the middle of top picture parallel to plastic pipe which i'm still unsure about its bent and close to the floor

All i said was remove the trap and slide the tile over the bend.....not remove the elbows on the joints....

you could take the plastic pipe off and you are left with the copper pipe..do your hole cut and use push fit fixings to get to where you want the pipe using both plastic pipes and push fixings or copper pipe and push fixings.If you use plastic pipe then remember and use pipe inserts.

i take it that a bidet is going over this pipe work, ifs its not going to show cut the tile and fit around the bent copper pipe

with the plastic dave is spot on, why make it hard for yourself take the simple solution

talk this through with the client and see if they want their plumber back in to cut the bent pipes out and fit straight pipes to be altered after the floor has been tiled or do they want a tile split

Simple they have been fitted before and are not flexable so when you tile the floor they will need to be redone to fit the items again so get a plumber in to put the pipes in the right place without needing a bend and put service valves on the copper pipes and just cut the waste pipes down so new pipe work can be fitted after tiling
