Some good markers to be found at trade tiler..
Trades Marker - Orange
Specially imported for Tradetiler from the USA
Bright orange colour makes it really easy to see, even in bad light
This marker is perfect for wet saw use as the orange mark is waterproof but is easily rubbed off when no longer needed
Simply push the button to advance the marking lead (retract when not in use to protect)
Similar marking properties to the china marker with a much simpler way of revealing more lead
(Lead free - non toxic)
Price: £2.47 £2.84 Including VAT at 15%

We sometimes use masking tape and pencils if there is a danger of either the pen making a permanent mark or being lost under water.
We use masking tape for tricky cuts and a pencil.
If you look to the back of the tile you can see the larger 110mm hole marked out for a soil stack

plain old CD marker pens, work wonders![]()

The mecahnical pencils from TT are excellent, 1 word of warning though, if you mark some soft glazed or some porcelain tiles, make sure you remove the excess chinagraph marks straight away. Leave them a day or 2, i.e. final clean up before grouting and it can be extremely reluctant to come off.

CD marker pen ..not for me.. may be worth risking on a fully glazed tile (althoughh i wouldn't risk it) because these are a permenant marker pen and would therefore be virtually impossible to remove form anything other than a fully glazed tile. I wouldn't even use them on the reverse side of a thiner glased tile as they can often be seen through the tile . Stick to China Markers!!

I usually score my cuts before wet cutting and follow the wase side of the cut.
Maybe more time consuming than a quick mark with a pen though.

Still stuck with just a pencil and maybe some blue tape if the tiles don't mark well.Never liked china markers due to the thick line.

I find Stabilo Tile pencils best, sharp lines, the crayons are too thick and if there the string pull sharpening ones they don`t last long, Stabilo also do different colours.

When tiles are fitted we are sticking with masking tape to mark out. We can draw out patterns on tiles and follow through.
This is especially true when running "lines" across the tile via a spirit level. Then just whip the tape off afterwards.
