Correct me if i am wrong but shouldnt i start tiling by the shower tray? Was due to start a new job tom but have just had a phone call to say that the plumber has pulled the wall away by the shower tray and it needs repairing.Builder is saying can i start in another area? Re: setting out
Not really, depends on your layout and where your cuts would end up for best results.

Re: setting out
Is it only the two walls with the shower on that you are tiling? It shouldn't stop you from tiling other walls if you set the whole room out in one go. Although if it's a small area maybe it would be better to let them fix the wall first, Only so you don't have someone else in your way

Re: setting out
I think we're missing something here, how much tiling is to do ? Just inside the cubicle ? or all walls / floor ?

Re: setting out
If you take time to set out properly you can start tiling on any wall and be confident that your tiles will align at any given point !

Re: setting out
'tis true if you set the room out right you can pretty much start on any wall

Re: setting out
Yes to both last points, the thing I think we're missing is the word tray, is it a floor job, in which case it still won't matter if the setting out is done, details please

Re: setting out
If you do a datum around the room and use a staff stick it won't matter where you start. I like starting at windows, just my thing though

Re: setting out
chaps is a square room about 20m2 on walls and 3 on the floor.Shower tray being put in place today. No window, no toilet just shower tray and pipes.I was taught to go 2 tiles high from the shower tray mark a line all the way round , fix downwards the carry on upwards.Obviously making sure cuts to the ceiling and floor are ok!

So by that standard how do you judge cuts for windows / doors / baths etc, I don't mean to belittle your methods but it does seem like only setting out half way, or would you take these into account as and when the room had them ?

Re: setting out
Also, how would you know what the cuts are going to be like at ceiling level!?!
