    Default HMRC tiling

Hi guys I have got a job at the Treasury (HMRC Parliment Sq London)tiling the ladies shower room floor.
I thought that places like these were tiled to perfection - how wrong I was. The tiling was only done four years ago and apparently with-in a year there were leaks.
The standard of tiling is quite bad, hence the reason I am there, to put right what went wrong. There was rotten plywood on the floor under the tiles so we have removed all the wood laid insulation boards and 50mm screed with a rubberised waterproof membrane. Will post some pictures when I can get it to work.

I am still finding it difficult to upload pictures - any help please

As you can see by the pictures, there is water damage all over the place and tiles are coming up on walls and floor.
The tiles on the wall are on plaster board, and on the floor they are laid onto plywood. It would appear that the room was not tanked in any sahpe or form and they have used wall tile adhesive to bed the tiles.

The tanking that we used was called 'Plasti-Dip'.

No discounts I have to wait 30 days as it is, proper invoice then wait to get paid.
Everybody better watch out or I'll set them on you

From what I have heard it is often the case of who you know and not what you know when work is being tendered for such contracts. This might have been the case here. Reputation doesnt need to be the best when you kow the right people

So so true, just take a look at who gets the council contracts.

I have finished the tiling now and will be posting some pics soon, they are not as good as I hoped as there was still work going on when I had finished, didn't even get the chance to clean up the tiles properly as the cubicles were being put in and the guys were having problems lining eveything up.

Hopefully this will lead to us sorting out the other shower areas, apparently there are about 7 more.
