    Question Arches

    Hi Guys.

Priced a job for a guy this morning, a fairly large (30m2) bathroom.

He thinks he wants it doing in 600 * 300 porcelain or travertine though not sure. He also wants chrome trim.

The problem i've got is that there's an arched window approx 2ft * 1.5ft. Ive done these before but only when using mosaic effect tiles. The external facia I have no problem with but the internal reveal Im struggling for ideas.

Ive advised him to incorporate a border (stone mosaic type) on a mesh so this can be used on the internal reveal. He is unsure about this as he wants to keep the tile constant throughout. Ive told him I may have to cut the larger tiles down into smaller, say inch strips and grout over the cracks, but i think this will look horrendous.

    Any suggestions anyone?

Another thing, is it easy to bend chrome trim to the shape of the arch? As I have seen this done but I have only done in genesis plastics before and found that not too difficult but I know chrome wont be as easy.

    Thanks People.

    Sean

Hi mate, you can buy formable trim which is designed to go around curves.
    Here is an example...

The two idea's you've already put forward are the way to go IMO, the customer is going to have to be realistic, after all you cant bend tiles.

You may need to cut yout tiles into strips to tile inside the reveal!

It's gotta be one or the other!?! Unless he's willing to lose the arch? Maybe some sort of Hexagonal effect...
