Question dry cutting without smashing tiles

Does anyone have any advise on making the transition from a wet cutter to a dry one. I have recently started as a tiler on my own and am using a wet cutter. The dry cutters in the bal approved training centre where I did my course were terrible quality and I found I kept breaking nearly every tile! So I stuck with the wet cutter and have done since. Most of my jobs are ceramic tiles in bathrooms and are not bigger than 400 usually. I want to try and get quicker at tiling and thought the dry cutter may take less time and make less mess, I dont want to spend too much (less than £200) in case I dont get on with it (maybe I am a too heavy handed!) I have thought of trying the big clinker but most of the reviews say it is good at breaking but hard to see the wheel and measurements. The rubi sound expensive and not very strong for the cheaper models.
Any advise would be appreciated as I have a big job starting next week and thought it could be good to use a dry cutter for the bulk of the tiling.

Try a genesis cutter, work great, you can see the wheel which can be replaced by a rubi one, it's a push rather than pull action, NETT Darren sells them in two sizes, around £100...good luck to you...

If your breaking ceramics at just about every go there must be a problem with your technique, as you say, to heavy handed, the bog standard tiles only need a slight bit of pressure, little finger job, anything from £20 b and q special up over will do the job, well some jobs, obviously you get what you pay for.

    thanks people,
just went down my local topps tiles and had a go on a Rubi TS-50, had no problems and cut them perfectly each time. Around £180 but hopefully will speed up my jobs and as I cant 'try before you buy' with the genesis so think I'll go with the rubi.

Had a Rubi TS-50 good cutter, but much prefer a cutter with a movable breaker more versatile for any angled cuts. ie sigma

dhsanta65 do you mean the moving breaker is better for angled cuts because you can use the breaker further down the tile - like the middle? In the demo video the guy uses the breaker in the same position as the TS cutters at the top and it seems to not break the corner off
    cheers

If you're cutting ceramics you could get away with a £20 cheapo from B&Q.

Having said that I would contact Dave at Trade Tiler, one of our sponsers. Someone said they got the Rubi TS 60 plus for £180 inc recently, same price as I paid at Topps when I haggled.

My 1st dry cutter was a Big Clinker and I still use it now.
Great for everything 150mm to 600mm, ceramics and porcelain.

I eventually bought a Montolit for smaller tiles, but still go back to the old Clinker.

Lee, they said £170 to me and they are desperate for sales right now.
Haggle away - they'll drop further than £190.

Nice one all for the advice, I ordered a TS-60 Plus today from Topps for £190 which I am pleased with, it is £240 in my local screwfix! can get it for £180 on net but by the time you add delivery its about the same plus I want to give Topps the sale as they are good to me - they get me jobs!
    Lets go...Cheers

Got a TS-50 for £120 never had a problem with it but £180 sounds steap shop around mate.Only issue i had is that you cant cut a tile bigger than 45x45 which is a pain as most people want massive tiles these days.
