Re: furthest estimate
if the jobs big enough graham and can cover fuel costs then i'm happy!plus if someone is phoning from stirling then it might be cos they can't get a tiler through there and could lead to more work!

Re: furthest estimate
Yorkshire is quite a big place, furthest i've gone is 45 miles. Something you have to remember to factor into the qoute, 3 x 45 mile return trips is pretty much a tank of feul.

Re: furthest estimate
Only had to travel 20 plus miles a couple of times, both times were customers who had moved so was confident of getting the jobs

Re: furthest estimate
Really depends upon who is telephoning, where they got my number etc !
If it is a recommend and they sound genuine then I will go and travel quite a way for a decent job. But if somebody says" I have a downstairs toilet floor to tile, can you tell me how much it will be to tile it, and they live 30 miles away, then I will give them my day rate plus materials and diesel and tell them that if the price is agreeable to book me in. No way I will travel to look.

Something like that Nick. 68 miles across roads that are ALWAYS closed in winter, windy, lumpy, full of sheep and single track for a part of it! No worked there for a week, thank god it was the summer!!

Re: furthest estimate
Do you take a survival kit with you grumpy when traveling that sort of route, you could be lost for days in the winter

Was going to say, bet it is an idyllic place to live. One of my best holidays ever was travelling around Scotland, my highlight was four days on the Isle Of Bute, did not want to come home. I am Scottish by birth, was born at the once Cottage Hosptial in Bellshill, 42 years ago. Guess Glasgow has changed no end since !
