Tiling a hallway...
....Hi everyone,
Just after some professional advice if I can, I'm going to tile my hallway which is 17sqm - its a narrow hallway from the front door which leads to a middle wide lobby area, then off to the left into another narrow hall...
I've found the centre of the hallway lengthways and I have found the middle of the room - but which ever way I position the first tile I seem to end up with what is going to be a small cut tile at some point in the hallway at the sides, as the walls have built in cupboards etc and walls that box out in places.
If you can imagine the hallway is shaped like a step but lengthways.
I hope this makes sense, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks all.
Phil and Bex.

hard to visualize Phil/Bex, sometimes tho', there's nowt that can be done to avoid a narrow cut somewhere! espescially when there are multiple turns/nooks and crannies!

Re: Tiling a hallway...
Great, thats what I wanted to hear, I have managed to shuffle it so as the small cut is in the corner and furthest away from the entrance. You can spend all day tweaking and shuffling the tiles, I suppose sometimes you have to go with a decision. Thanks again.

Re: Tiling a hallway...
Hi,
With what your describing, the best advice i could give would be to centre the hallway from the front door, and adjust it to the suit the other hall,as they will be your focal points,in the main lobby the cuts may not be seen as much, but as doug has stated above sometimes you will have to have small cuts somewhere.
If i had a little more time i would knock up a floorplan for you but would need dimensions and tile sizes.

Okay made quick knock up on the description you made.
You'll have to zoom in fully to see it properly.
Hope it helps

Re: Tiling a hallway...
just tweak it, move the centre tile over and make the smallest cut as big as possible, sometimes just have to go by wot looks right to the eye

Re: Tiling a hallway...
and don't forget, on your centre lines, you can either start with a full tile out from the centre line or a tile centred on the line
