Whats the best and worst gadgets you've ever brought for tiling???
Just as in the title, this post is to try and save some hard earned cash with useless things that come out now and again and to advise of any good little gadgets you have brought.

My worst purchase was a pair of trim cutters, i only ever use them for straight cuts and making my fingers bleed when i forget the safety leaver!!!

Best was a washboy........
Worst was a laser level...it lost it's level every time you walked past it......it wasn't a rotary type just one of 2 foot levels with a laser in the end on a tripod..utter poo...
now we have self levelling pendelum lasers on the market...

the mitre cutters are not great and i also just use for straight cuts.
TBH...i try not to buy tools that i know i wont really use...my old fella has loads as he is on the maintenance team of a large leisure complex up here,so borrow from him if i dont have a specific tool.

That's a bit personal don't you think?!!
Actually yes, I prefer a well lubricated finger.
I find the plastic "tools" can get messy and are sometimes a bit of a squeeze in tight spots.

Re: Whats the best and worst gadges you've ever brought for tiling???

Re: Whats the best and worst gadges you've ever brought for tiling???
Best
365 drills.
Cheap Bosch multi purpose drills B&Q are doing them for £6 odd ATM
Karl Dam silicone set, in contrast to someone else here. I to have the problem with tight spots, so I cut an older set of profilers down to suit.
Rubi TS60 plus
Stanley 24 inch toolbox, like the ones that CTD are doing, but I got them free when I bought the larger wheelie toolboxes from Focus. My tiling tools all just about fit into one of them and the other carries my basic plumbing kit.
Cheap rotary laser level. Takes a bit of time setting it up but it does the job well.
My mosaic trowel bought from the tip with a load of other cheap tools for £1
Worst
Rubi batten holders. The design is poor, they rock all over the place and the batten falls to the floor. They should have put adjustable feet on the base to stop them wobbling. They are very expensive for what they are. Plus they are just not long enough for larger tiles.
