    Default Tiling on plasterboard

Is there any point in getting plasterbaord skimmed before tiling, guess that looking years ahead if I need to re-tile then perhaps easier to hack them off a skimmed surface ?

I have tiled the ensuite where the only plasterboard wall was skimmed by accident whilst the plasterers were doing the outside wall which had had a window opening knocked through.

    Thanks

I only ask this because I now have the main bathroom to do which will be a mix of aquapanel and currently just bare plasterboard.

Plasterboard will take more weight of tile than a skim coat of plaster

No point if your tiling over the whole wall youl have paid to have it skimmed for nowt!
and plasterboard carries more weight per meter than a skim coat! and as a preference i use MR board in bathrooms( but it is dearer)

Hi, just remember 32kg per square meter on plasterboard and 20 kg per square meter on plaster.

remember that Hardiebacker will carry 45-50kg and should work out per m2 cheaper than Aquapanel depending on where you get it from.
