sealant??

when i use sealant,i grout first where sealant will be,do the rest and go back to seal.i always thought that i was giving enough time.anyway,was talking to my sister and she said her nextdoor neighbour is some kind of bathroom specialist and he said that you shoul always grout one day and go back next day to seal-i personally wouldnt but do any of you tilers go back another day and if so,why??espescially if job some distance away,it be time consuming and costly.

i seal after grouting cause where i seal there`s no grout ie movement joints ,around bath if no trim , around window frames.

i seal before grouting gets better hold and only takes half hour or so to cure and then grout, and you should always use high modulous silcone in areas of humidity.

if you grout after sealing you are defeating the object for sealing ,what will happen is the grout will sit on top of the sealant in the grout gaps and this will not connect with the sealant therefore you will have leaks everywhere when the bath is being used ,speaking as an experienced fitter i would say that is a big NO NO

I've tried sealing first but dont you find the edge of the seal begins to lift due to the abrasion of the grout? It must affect the seal and looks a bit messy too...

I dont grout where im gonna seal, but grout near the areas first, than by the time ya finish grouting the grout near where ya gonna seal has gone off enough to seal. Just make sure its dry with kitchen roll.

If you seal over grout in movement joints, surely your not creating a movement joint?

then you wet your finger and push/pull finger up grout joint to pressure the grout to stick to the grout ,i wouldnt really class this as a movement joint kiddo

when sealing aroung baths half fill bath with water before sealing this will put bath at half stress thus when sealant dries and bath is used the selant does'nt over stretch and split

well ill tell yeh something ,ive never heard of that before ,you must have left some jobs with some leeks ,its known that this way doesnt work,oh sorry didnt i mention id fill the bath aswell,and all them indentations when youve pushed the silicone in to the grout gaps ,i bet yeh that looks s...e when its grouted up

obviously you not very good with silicone gun eh?. sealing on top of grout does not work and never will work.

ive been in this industry for nearly eighteen years this crimbo coming ,obviously you seal round windows ,obviously you fill bath with water before you seal ,as for grout not sticking to silicone thats utter c..p,you mustnt be doing it properly ,you must hide from your customers
