I think Dave killed the thread with his killer link, very informative esp the pei ratings. I think most people dislike them 'cos they're harder to cut, but a good cutter and wheel makes short work of this problem, drilling on the other hand...................

I used the 365 drilling system to drill porcelain tiles. I did try my multi purpose drill bits but they didn't even scratch the surface.

I did some 30mm holes for the towel rail pipes with cheap plastic chrome coloured pipe collars to hide the excess. I had to do 30mm to clear the stop ends on the ends of the pipes.

why do they make those stop ends so big! a nice 25mm bit for a 22mm pipe, nice neat job,but oh no, plumber sticks a carbuncle on't end!

I got one of those heavy duty makita die-grinders and have an assortment of diamond bits which are right handy for making holes just a bit bigger in crucial areas.
They chew through porcs with a bit of water to keep things cool, unless they just need a little touch, then it can be run dry.

Diamonds are a tile setters best friend.

I love porcelain, I actually seek out jobs involving the fixing of these tiles. If you do one good job using polished porcelain and it comes up as smooth as glass with zero lipping, there is no sight better once cleaned and polished.
