    whats the best addy and grout for a fireplace(never done one b4)its clay tiles and i prefer bal if that helps anyone(prob not!)

    BAl is suitable no probs...upto about 100 dgs...

    take it rapid set should be ok(pretty sure its a concrete base) and a non flexi grout?

    Here's one i did.....Bal rapidset and superflex ivory grout.....

    It is just peace of mind really.....better to use a modified grout IMO...

    Bal rapidset will be fine..but others then maybe not.....the bal one is flexible to a certain extent.....so is Mapie's mapeker.....They make these adhesives modifed for porcelain but not suitable for timber or ufh and that heats the whole substrate...this is a fire hearth...so will be fine...but if in doubt use flexi addy..

    It really depends upon what the fire is to used for doug..those ones i did were for wood burning stoves....so no probs....

    Now if this was an open fire then YES go flexible.......
