Tanking
Hi all.
I am fitting a shower above a bath and want to waterproof the walls before tiling.
The walls were painted with a eggshell paint, can you recommend a product, can it be applied to a painted surface or would i have to key the area first.
Thanks
Colebeck

Re: Tanking
You are better to remove the paint first. Once you have done that I recommend a membrane system like Schluter Kerdi or Durabase CI . Very easy to use and no waiting for it to dry, you can tile on it staight away. basically, you fix it with cement based adhesive with a very fine notch trowel and lay the membrane into it, ensuring full coverage of adhesive on the back side of the membrane. That is all there is too it really.

Re: Tanking
dont forget to prime the walls before applying powdered adhesive to platerboard or plaster. this will stop the cement and plaster re-acting with each other over time.
