Concrete Floor levelling 3mm - 5mm max
Have been quoted £250 to level a concrete floor 3 - 5mm out max in one area of about 2m2. Is this a rip off?
That quote was to prepare it for laminate floor laying so was wondering if I tiled with 33cm tiles I could overcome these discrepancies with the adhesive and a decent long level?
Any help appreciated - I feel that at the rate the guy wants to charge £250 to level 7m2 which equates to £35m2 and I have been quoted £30 m2 to tile the floor including adhesives that it is a major rip off!! lol
Cheers

Dont fully understand what you mean mate,as at first you say laminate, then you say tile, yes you could overcome the defecit with addy,or you could simply buy a SLC (self leveling compound) and do it yourself, its easy

Re: Concrete Floor levelling 3mm - 5mm max
Thanks for the replies - sorry for being such a newbie numpty. Had a tight budget that basically was gonna cost £15 m2 for laminate and fitting and all sundries.
Fitter did half job then realised there would be movement - basically he should have checked these things first. He then said that he wanted £35m2 to level lol.
That is why I am talking about getting it tiled - myself. I can lay floor tiles OK so do you know how much levelling would cost? If easy I am sure I could do it but have carpets in a few rooms that I want to preserve.
Do I have to lay a batten down so that levelling compound doesn't spread to that?
Cheers
I am seriously considering cutting my losses on the cheap laminate and tiling it myself but have many family opponents lol - cold, clinical etc.
I think hard wearing, classy looking, easy to maintain and better than cheap laminate.
Any help?

caught up with your thread in the welcome section m ate,Different distributors do different SLC`s even B&Q do them, just work out what area of your floor is out and get enough SLC to do the job, unfortunately without actually seeing the floor i cant tell you how much you would need, but yes it is very easy, with regards to battens,it depends on if you are levelling into the doorways or not,if not then you dont need them.DONT be afraid to ask questions mate,no matter how silly or trivial they may sound to you, better to ask and get a reply (even if it is an obvious reply) rather than just going ahead and maybe doing something wrong

Re: Concrete Floor levelling 3mm - 5mm max
Thanks for the quick replies - as said long time lurker and very useful stuff and info - best I seen on the net.
For the pro tilers I probably aint the best poster as I am skint and looking for help as I can't afford £30m2 - that is why I went for the laminate in the first place lol!!
That seems to have gone way tits up so really want to go for tiles - as I wanted but not my partner or family.
10m2 to do - awkward long hallway though - any advice and I will upload some pics but not sure about doing a drawing or floor plan - any pointers I will look into.
I saw these tiles in Wickes - Wickes *–*Tiles*–*Floor Tiles*–*Ceramic Tiles*–*Olympus Ceramic Floor Tiles
that seemed a good price and was gonna get the adhesive from them too? Only cos I don't drive and they do free delivery and Mrs isn't too pleased driving me about "only for you to knacker my companies car suspension with your hairbrained ideas!!"
I will upload some pics of job if get any advice - have worked out the centres - but there are odd doorways, cupboards etc
Cheers
