    Default SLC on UFH

Hi everyone, I'm going to use SLC over UFH for the first time in a few weeks in an upstairs ensuite. An electrician is going to fit the UFH and then I will lay the SLC over that.
My query is, with it being upstairs I have read some scare stories about the SLC dripping through the floor. How would I prevent this and also whats the best method to prevent the SLC crossing the doorway into the bedroom.

What is the subfloor made from that the UFH is being laid on to?

The current floor has laminate with chipboard underneath.

Silicone any gaps that the SLC will leak into....and in the doorway screw down some 2x1 and then silicone the front if it to prevent the slc seeping through....

You can use Mapei fibreplan SLC on timber and ufh.....

You will get this from CTD...in teamvalley or sunderland...or even darlington branch...those will be the closest to you....

The laminate should be coming up so I am assuming that the electrician is intending to lay the UFH on the chipboard. If that is the case, there should be no leakage through because it is a T&G fit and reasonably tight. However, you may want to liaise with the electrician to make sure that the floor has proper preparation with regard to the SLC you are going to use. You will probably need to prime the chipboard depending on the slc.

To be honest, if you can over lay the chipboard with insulating boards, so much the better as you are giving yourself a better surface completely to deal with. To stop any slc entering the bedroom, bead off the doorway first.
