Re: worst tiling ever. Tilers who do this sort of work should hang their heads in SH
Seeing more and more of this type work over the last year. Very rare to see a top quality tiling job in a domestic setting. Dont know whether its credit crunch meaning people are going for the cheapest quote, diyers having a go themselves or poorly trained pro tilers.

Re: worst tiling ever. Tilers who do this sort of work should hang their heads in SH
Customers seem to have abandoned the 'you get what you pay for' attitude and are jumping at ridiculously cheap qoutes then are suprised when they get substandard work and have to pay us to go in and do it properly.

Re: worst tiling ever. Tilers who do this sort of work should hang their heads in SH
Whenever I give a quote for a private job, I always explain that you can probably find someone to do it cheaper, but you won't get any guarantee for work done, and it may all fall off if its not done properly. I always explain that a lot of people can tile, but only a few can do it properly. And this thread proves it.
There is tiling everywhere you look. Its rare that I see some work and think "oh man thats good" normally I can pick faults all over any room.
Was in a posh hotel in Edinburgh the other weekend, and in the ensuite it looks like the walls were wallpapered, and then the tiler tiled on top of it. Not entirely sure how it hasnt failed. Was in it, one eye washing myself, and the other watching out for a cave in

All the pics I take are from commercial. The first one is a hotel room near a famous racecourse.
I wont take pics of private jobs / home Just commercial.

Re: worst tiling ever. Tilers who do this sort of work should hang their heads in SH
The trouble with photo's of a bad job is that no one knows the circumstances of how the job was done, who by and how much they were paid. Admittedly there are genuine cases of really bad work and I and many others have witnessed but the easiest thing is to criticize someones work without knowing the history behind it. I've seen guys of 30 years experiance getting slanged off for one silly mistake, Have'nt we all made one.
Just my say on the subject
And yes the work is dire

dublin airport is a bad commercial one.
dublin in general doesn't seem to have movement joints in big commercial jobs and it shows.

spot on,you tell punters this or that will look cack unless this or that are done and they will say just do it.
i loose work by refusing some stuff like seen in the pics but where do you draw line,we have to earn and do what the punter asks, even though you know its wrong and looks cack.

Re: worst tiling ever. Tilers who do this sort of work should hang their heads in SH
Spot on Whitebeam, but sometimes I see work and think I would have to try really really hard to get it that bad.
I am by no means the best tiler out there, and Im sure Ive done some things that I should have changed when I first started out, but nothing as bad as those pictures.

Re: worst tiling ever. Tilers who do this sort of work should hang their heads in SH
that was probably a diy attempt although i have come across substandard work from tilers anyone worked on site plot bashing will know wat i mean. everyone has there faults and no one can say there perfect no matter how experienced you are i to this day still try and fault my work there is always something or ill look back at pictures and think err i could do better it keeps my passion for the job its the ones that think there perfect usually are the worst.
but i have been busy throughout the year (near enough) got numerous contacts plus recommends from local tile shop and even though im a young 20 yr old lad i must be doing summat rite
