Drilling a single hole
Hi,
Recently we managed to crack a tile in our new bathroom and of course it is a tile with a hole in it. I now need to replace this one tile with a new one and it needs a 10cm diameter hole in it. This is a one-off job and I am unlikey to need to drill a whole again. What tool would anyone reccomend I use that will get get teh job done and not cost too much?
I appreciate any feedback.
Mark

Re: Drilling a single hole
hi markhunter,
take the tile you want to cut and draw the hole you want on the reverse side of it.
with a small angle grinder cut an X in the back of the tile, turn the tile to the front and with a small hammer tap out the four pieces, the hole is now big enough that you can take the rest out with tile nips...dont forget safety glasses......good luck
chris.

Re: Drilling a single hole
By pure chance we do have a spare 10cm (100mm) PORSADRILL diamond drill left over from this weekends demonstrations. Its well used and has very little life left in it. It will cut one hole in porcelain.
If you have a porcelain tile to cut give me a call on 01992 410636 and we can probably let you have this one at a nominal cost.

Note to post readers - this was posted on 17th Nov08 so its likely that the 100mm crown will have gone. (sold)
