    Default Retailers in Leeds/York Area

    Hi

Can anyone tell me of a good retailer in the Leeds (preferable) or York area that they recommend. I like to use Ardex products where possible but am happy to use most reputable products. I use a supplier in Leeds at the moment but always seem to be able to get better prices when I phone around or look on the net.

I guess what I'm after is a retailer that is competitive without having to go haggling to get the right price every time I price up materials.

I'm a one man band so don't use loads but I do some commercial work so sometimes have bigger orders.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Regards

    Tib

    Thanks for replying Dave

I think I went into CTD in Leeds (the nearer of the two) when I moved up here and think the reason that I didn't use them was because they didn't stock Ardex products... not sure?? I can remember that I ended up going to another showroom just across the road which is why I have ended up getting my addy etc all over the place.

Had a look at your website a and guess that you have a good relationship with them. I'll pop in tomorrow morning as I need to price materials for quite a big porcelain job. Would have liked to used D30 on the walls but am always open to other people's opinions.

    Thanks again

    Tib

They haven't made their minds up yet whether to go for 400x400s or 400x600s. They're coming out of porcelanosa so are going to be good quality. Its 300m2 walls and floors. The substrates are; screeded floor which will be getting a layer of self smoothing and the walls are currently blocks which someone has advised him to tile straight onto.

That's the jist of it anyway....

I wouldn't recommend using a dispersion adhesive on those tile for the wall......

You will be better of using a cement based adhesive....then it will dry alot quicker and IMO is more suitable for those tiles...

CTD northern regions are selling Mapei adesilex p9...about a £10 a bag....spot on for porcelain....worth a thought...but deffo a no go with dispersion gear......

Thanks for the advice. I'll not be fixing to the blocks but will have it boarded with wedi or similar as its around a wet area.

Do CTD still have reps that monitor the site as when I joined there were a few that did.

We have branch managers registered now and they can give advice on materials they stock....or you can just ring the number above and ask...

Yortile in Horsforth keep a full range of Mapei adhesives, grouts and levelling compounds in as well as their own brand. Very well priced. They're just off Station Road
