Re: Any Members of the TIle Association
I think in our Poll we did ages ago, which I is knocking about on here somewhere, over 60% of tilers didn't know who they are, and out of about 200 responses only 2 were members, and neither said they'd renew.
I wouldn't give them a penny untill they give you real benefits.
You get loads more benefits being a member of here, and it's free, and we have big numbers and all the same backing they have company-wise. IMO.

Re: Any Members of the TIle Association
I agree with being a member on herre 100%, I was really just after some of their statisitics for the tiling industry and perhaps some of their journals.
Just for example figures such as how many more tilers will be needed to fufill demand in the construction Industry once things pick up again so that i can put that into the grant application to support the point im making for the demand (if anybody has any info even resembling this its mutch appreciated.
Heres their reply to my e-mail just to show how nice they were to someone who could have been a potential member:
Sorry but that information is for members and the press only
Thats it no give at all, not even signed the e-mail, theyl not be getting my money thats for sure.

This is how the TTF treat tilers :
£190.00 member ship then pay us £25.00 for each of our guides (£50.00 pdf)
If you dont pay us membership and we cant do lunch with out associates then you will have to pay us £125.00 for our guides
Basicaly its Pay us or **** off

Re: Any Members of the TIle Association
I was thinking about joining the TTA earlier this year and did look into it quite abit, even talking to their reps at the Tile & Stone show in London.
I have decided to not join at this particular time as I feel the benifits of joining are not enough to justify spending my money on.

Re: Any Members of the TIle Association
Think ill look into other association for a marketing perspective to customers such as the Guild of Master Craftsmen, but then again I could find they are all the same money for nothing.

Re: Any Members of the TIle Association
I am a member and what I will try and do for you is see if there is anything I can do to help you out.
I wont go into the debates via this thread of the pros and cons of membership for a couple of reasons
1) I want their help so next year I am going to be pushing them for help support and info.
2) Ive not been a member long enough to see if they can add value to 365drills and our product range. I reseve judgement!
In the mean time I will ask for the info. As a side note I did ask them for figures about the growth in the market of porcelain tiles vs ceramic tiles and they rather unhelpfully pointed me to another company prodcued industry report with a price tag of £700 to answer that question.

Re: Any Members of the TIle Association
I am a consumer rather than someone working in the tile trade but my experience of The Tile Association (TTA) has been poor.
I have found them to be very unhelpful. To me it seems that they are just a commercial organisation who are prepared to accept virtually anyone as a member as long as they pay their membership fees.
Their website claims that they have strict financial and technical requirements in order to become a member.
Earlier in the year I used what was then a non TTA member to undertake the supply and installation of some tiling for me. I was not happy with finished result and ended up having to have all the tiles ripped up, new tiles purchased and fitted again by another tiling company.
This was time consuming and very costly, but the now the result is superb.
I was shocked to see that this company became a TTA a few months later. Recent credit checks on the company and an analysis of their accounts filed at Companies House indicate that the company is not in a particularly good financial position, in fact I would say it is pretty dire.
Clearly the TTA's strict requirements do not appear to be very strict at all and like previous posters on this thread I really do think they attitude is give us your money and you can become a member.
As a consumer I am worried as I would not want another consumer to see that this company is a TTA member and think that they have been strictly vetted as I am sure that this cannot possibly have been the case.
